Applications are now open for the GIST Global Internship 2026 in South Korea. This is a fully funded international summer research internship hosted by the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST).
The program is open to international undergraduate and master’s students from all countries. The internship duration is 8 weeks, and it will take place during July to August 2026. There is no application fee, and IELTS is not required.
The main objective of the GIST Global Intern Program is to allow students to work on research projects in GIST laboratories while gaining international research experience, academic exposure, and cultural understanding.

Financial Benefits
The GIST Global Internship 2026 is fully funded. Selected participants will receive round-trip airfare, free accommodation, and a monthly stipend to cover living expenses. The program also includes Korean language classes, cultural classes, special lectures, and organized cultural exploration activities. Interns will have the opportunity to meet and collaborate with fellow participants from around the world.
Internship Areas
Participants will be placed in research laboratories across multiple academic and scientific fields. Available areas include Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Semiconductor Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical and Robotics Engineering, Environment and Energy Engineering, Life Sciences, Integrated Technology, Physics and Photon Science, Chemistry, Biomedical Science and Engineering, and the Artificial Intelligence Graduate School.
Eligibility Criteria
The internship is open to applicants of all nationalities. Candidates must be international undergraduate seniors or master’s degree students. A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.5 scale or equivalent is required.
Applicants from English-speaking countries, or students whose university instruction is in English, may submit a passport copy or an official certificate stating that the medium of instruction is English instead of a language test.

Applicants must prepare official degree or enrollment certificates, official academic transcripts in English, a letter of recommendation, and proof of English proficiency where applicable. All documents should be accurate and submitted according to the application instructions.
