    Applications are now open for the Bloomberg Fellowship 2026, a fully funded short-term fellowship hosted at Bloomberg Headquarters in New York City, USA. This fellowship is open to international students as well as students currently studying in the United States.

    The program will take place from 18 to 22 May 2026 and is designed for university students who are interested in journalism, particularly business and financial reporting. All major expenses are covered by Bloomberg, allowing participants to focus fully on learning and professional development.

    During the fellowship, participants will gain practical insight into how journalists report on the economy, companies, financial and commodity markets, government policies, and labor issues, especially in areas where wealth and power intersect.

    Financial Benefits

    The Bloomberg Fellowship 2026 is fully funded. Bloomberg covers round-trip travel to New York City, free accommodation for the duration of the program, and meals during all fellowship activities. Participants do not need to pay any program-related expenses.

    The Bloomberg Journalism Programs are delivered in collaboration with Bloomberg News and the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media. These partnerships ensure high-quality training led by experienced journalists and academic professionals.

    Outcomes of the Fellowship

    By the end of the program, participants will develop a strong understanding of markets and financial concepts. They will learn the fundamentals of business journalism, one of the fastest-growing and most in-demand fields in media today. The fellowship also offers hands-on writing and reporting practice guided by Bloomberg journalists. In addition, participants will explore the importance of diversity, inclusion, and representation in modern journalism.

    Eligibility Criteria

    The fellowship is designed for university students who have a strong interest in journalism. It specifically targets students who are not currently studying business journalism. Applicants must be rising juniors or seniors, meaning students entering their third or fourth year of undergraduate study.

    Students from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and lived experiences are strongly encouraged to apply. Full-time international students who are currently studying in the United States are also eligible for this program.

    Applicants must prepare and submit the following documents as part of their application: a current resume, an unofficial academic transcript, a written essay, and contact information for one faculty reference.
